Please read these Terms — they're a legal contract between you and Christ Note. Using the app or website means you agree to them.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a legal agreement between you and SixFortyLabs LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Christ Note," "we," "us"), governing your access to and use of the Christ Note iPhone application and the christnote.app website (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
01Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (16 in the EEA/UK). If you are under 18 — or under the age of majority where you live — your parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf. Sign-in is offered through Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication; your use of those identity providers is also subject to their own terms. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your authentication methods secure. Notify us at hello@christnote.app if you suspect unauthorized use.
02License
Subject to these Terms, Christ Note grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable, limited license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not: (a) copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it; (c) use the Service to build a competing product; or (d) remove copyright or proprietary notices. All other rights — including the Christ Note name, logo, design, and the Lectionary visual system — remain with Christ Note or its licensors.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any such change.
03Christ Note Pro and the App Store
Some features require a paid subscription called Christ Note Pro. Subscriptions are sold and billed by the Apple App Store under your Apple ID. To manage or cancel, use your Apple subscription settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. Free trials may convert to paid subscriptions unless canceled before the trial ends. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law or by Apple's refund policy. We may change prices on renewal with prior notice; you are responsible for any applicable taxes.
The free tier currently includes one AI sermon summary, one SOAP study, one passage analysis, and unlimited chapter headings. The exact limits are subject to change.
04Your content
You own the content you create through the Service ("User Content") — including audio recordings, transcripts, photos, notes, highlights, and chat messages. You grant Christ Note a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, store, copy, transmit, display, and process your User Content solely as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you. This license ends when you delete the User Content or your account.
We do not use your User Content to train AI models. Our AI sub-processors (currently OpenAI) process your inputs under terms that exclude training by default.
You agree not to: (a) upload content you do not have the right to share; (b) use the Service to violate any law or third-party right; (c) attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems; (d) interfere with or disrupt the Service; or (e) use the Service to generate or distribute spam, hateful, harassing, fraudulent, or unlawful content. We may, but are not obligated to, review or remove content that violates these Terms.
05Recording compliance
The Service lets you record audio and capture photos. You are solely responsible for complying with applicable recording, privacy, and consent laws, which vary by state and country. In particular:
- Get permission from your parish, the homilist, and any other identifiable individuals before recording.
- Use Christ Note for personal, devotional purposes only — not to publish, broadcast, or distribute another person's words without their consent.
- If you photograph other people's bulletins, notes, or copyrighted material, do so only for personal study; do not redistribute.
Christ Note does not review your recordings and is not responsible for content you capture in violation of these obligations.
06AI is not professional advice
AI summaries, chats, flashcards, quizzes, and Bible analyses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. They may misattribute quotes, misinterpret scripture, or omit important context. To reduce hallucinated quotations, Bible verse text is served from a verified server-side cache; the verses themselves are accurate to the source translation, but commentary and summaries generated around them may not be.
Christ Note does not provide theological, pastoral, legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Outputs are devotional aids, not substitutes for the guidance of a priest, minister, spiritual director, or other qualified professional. You are responsible for reviewing outputs and applying human discernment before relying on them.
07Disclaimers and liability
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; those limits may not apply to you.
08Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Christ Note and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
09Arbitration and class waiver
9.1 Informal resolution
Before filing a claim, you and Christ Note agree to try to resolve the dispute informally. Send a written notice — including your name, contact information, a description of the dispute, and the relief sought — to hello@christnote.app. If we cannot resolve it within 60 days, either party may start arbitration.
9.2 Binding arbitration
You and Christ Note agree to resolve any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this agreement to arbitrate.
9.3 Exceptions
Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small claims court; or (b) seek temporary or preliminary equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property rights or prevent unauthorized access to the Service.
9.4 Class action waiver
9.5 Opt out
You may opt out of this Arbitration Agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@christnote.app with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your account email. If any portion of this Section is unenforceable, the unenforceable portion will be severed and the remainder will remain in effect. This Section survives termination.
10Termination, governing law, and other terms
10.1 Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law, or to protect the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination may involve deletion of your User Content from our live databases. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
10.2 Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules, and applicable U.S. federal law. Except for matters in arbitration and small claims permitted in Section 9.3, the state and federal courts located in the State of Texas have exclusive jurisdiction.
10.3 Updates to these Terms
We may update these Terms by posting the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after the new effective date constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or by email before they take effect.
10.4 Communications and notices
You consent to receive communications from us electronically — email, in-product messages, and push notifications. Such communications satisfy any legal requirement for written communications. For support or legal notices, contact hello@christnote.app.
10.5 Other terms
You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may freely assign these Terms. If any provision is unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver. We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Christ Note regarding the Service.
